taps
This is my favourite pic. The builders have taken my bath to pieces. The taps aren't on, the walls have been replaced with temporary gib board, the shower head is on but it is sitting in the bath floor cos the thing it sits on isn't attached. Neither is the door. Apparently squatting in the bath is the only way to shower without freezing. *sigh*

The Truth Hurts
You didn’t mean so much to me
That I won’t get over you.
You didn’t make me feel so giddy
That without you I wont know what to do.
You didn’t make me lose myself so much
That I won’t find the old me again.
You didn’t consume my mind like you thought
And I’ll only think of you now and then.
You didn’t feel as good inside me
As I sometimes might have said.
You didn’t become my only reason to live
And now it’s over I’m not crying for you.
At first I thought you were cute
Now I see I was wrong.
Your babies would be kind of ugly
I’m glad I won’t be having one.
What sort of future your life will be
I really hate to think.
All I know is if I was part of it
You’d make me want to turn to drink.Thursday, July 20, 2006

old vs new
Paddy the Wanderer
In the 30s, after the death of his 3 yr old owner Elsie, Paddy lost the inclination to stay where he was and took to living at the Wellington waterfront, an area it knew well because his owners father was a seaman. He spent his evenings with watchmen, his days at the tally clerks stall at the wharf gates and occasionally shipped out on a boat for a while. The local taxi drivers adopted him, whipping the hat around to pay for his registration fees. When he died in 1939 at age 13 12 taxis formed the cortege led through the city by a policeman. His death was written up in the city newspaper and this memorial was paid for by Paddys friends and features 2 dog height drinking bowls. Ironically dogs are no longer allowed in the city center. It started to rain just as I arrived at the fountain so its a snap and run shot.

Rockwell
Before the Shot:
Runaway:
Sometime in the past couple of days I read about the painter Norman Rockwell so I googled his work and just fell in love. What a slice of Americana. My friend says "his composition and flare for the over exagarrated were his best ability." I dunno if thats true or not but I know I like his work and he captured perfect moments in time, moments that could happen in any kids life.

Freak winter weather again
The weather is not normally like this....coldest June since 1972, biggest snow down south in 30 yrs. Yesterday we got our share. It was sunny all day but the city was completely covered in fog, not even the sun could burn it off. No flights in or out. Walking through the city was pretty eiry.
