shoreline
These are dotted around the CBD (central business district), along Lambton Quay, Willis St and small side streets, followingthe path of what used to be the original waterfront, just a beach shoreline then. Maori canoes (waka's) were still pulled ashore to rest of the sands back then. The entire waterfront of Wellington City was reclaimed and covered in tall glass buildings and a row of parks. Under one building a boat called Plimmers Ark was foundand can beseen through glass flooring. I'm petrified of standing on the glass, thickened or not but the boat was used by John plimmer as a warehouse on that spot, now 2 blocks from the waterfront.
In the event of a really big earthquake the waterfront will probably liquidate and sink several feet though...
